The water flow (pressure) on my Hydro Floss® is not as strong as it should be. What should I do?
- Replace your irrigating tip (Everyday tip, sulcus tip or pocket pal tip) with a tip that has never been used. The opening in the end of the tip is the smallest opening that water passes through and any buildup of minerals, debris, etc. can have a negative affect on the water pressure.
- Be sure there is a firm connection between the reservoir and the base of the unit. Check for: 1) a black o'ring on the bottom of the reservoir (on the part that is inserted into the base), and 2) the white reservoir plug in the bottom of the reservoir. If either of these is damaged or missing the irrigator will not be able to pump at full pressure. If the o'ring on the bottom of the reservoir is intact and is not damaged, it is possible that it has dried out and cannot slide fully into the base. Rub a very small amount of cooking oil (any food grade oil) on the o'ring. This will allow the reservoir to fit fully down into the base and create a better connection between the reservoir and the base. Replacement o'rings and reservoir plugs may be purchased at the following link - Replacement o'rings and reservoir plugs
- Clean the internal parts of the Hydro Floss® with white vinegar:
- Remove the irrigating tip
- Fill the reservoir with a 50/50 white vinegar and very warm water solution
- Place the handle in the bottom of the sink, turn the Hydro Floss® on and let it run for 10 seconds then turn the Hydro Floss® off. Gravity will pull the remaining solution through the irrigator.
- After the solution has emptied, flush any remaining solution from the unit by filling the reservoir with very warm water, put the handle back in the sink, turn the Hydro Floss® on and let it empty into the sink.
If these suggestions do not improve the pressure, your Hydro Floss® may need a new pump. Repairs for irrigators that are less than one year old will be covered under warranty (proof of purchase required). If the irrigator is no longer under warranty the cost to replace the pump is $26.00, this includes parts, labor and shipping. Please note this is only an estimate. Without examining the irrigator, we cannot give you an exact cost for its repair. To obtain service, please send your Hydro Floss® to the address given above along with a letter describing the problem. Be sure to include your return address and daytime telephone number.
